Freakangel Cooks: Summer Berry Smoothie

From time to time I get a little lazy and don't even want to cook, I'm sure we've all been there. Especially on a hot summer day when it's so humid that the last thing anyone wants to do is slave away over a hot stove. So, for a quick fix when you need to fuel up but don't want to add any more heat to your sweaty day perhaps a smoothie is just what the doctor ordered. This post will be like the smoothie making process - quick and simple. Just follow the picture captions and before you know it you'll be sucking back a cool, refreshing, thick and fruity dairy delight.

Summer Berry Smoothie

Gather your items near your blender. Today I was making a single smoothie for just me, so only about 1/3 banana went in the smoothie. Start by blending the 1/3 banana with 2-3 tablespoons of strawberry (or flavor of your choice) greek yogurt and 1/3 cup of milk. After the softer items are blended into the milk slowly add 1/3 - 1/2 cup of mixed wild berries and 1/3-1/2 cup of frozen strawberries and blend rigorously for a couple minutes or until smooth.

(Pro tip:  don't wait to clean up - you do not want nasty rotting fruit or dairy products caught around the blades of your blender.  Rinse thoroughly, add a little dish liquid and some hot water, blend and rinse away the soap. Blending with hot soapy water will clean out all the nooks and crannies of your blender and around the blades with a lot more ease and ensured thoroughness than washing by hand and there is a lot less risk of injury to your fingers.)
Pour your blended fruity dairy delight into a glass, insert a straw  and voila!

Slurp away 'cause it's smoothie time! YUM!
